The SDGs Center at Universitas Diponegoro (LPPM-UNDIP) proudly presents our upcoming Summer Course, a hybrid short-course program held in the heart of Central Java, Indonesia.
This program addresses the urgent challenges of waste management by exploring the intersection of social, economic, community, and environmental health. Titled “Community-Based Waste Upcycling for New Resources,” this course integrates cutting-edge technology with community-led practices into a comprehensive learning framework.
Program Highlights
Experience firsthand how Central Java manages and repurposes waste through a community-driven approach. Participants will gain practical insights through:
- Immersive Fieldwork: Visit the integrated waste management site (TPST) at Universitas Diponegoro and a renowned community-based waste management village to see real-world solutions in action.
- Comprehensive Curriculum: Receive a structured, integrated education on community-based waste management.
- Multicultural Collaboration: Work in diverse, international teams to develop a Mini Project that addresses real-world waste challenges.
- Certification: Participants will receive an e-certificate and an official academic transcript upon successful completion of the program.

Key Activities
- Collaborative Expert Forums & Case Studies: Engage with industry leaders and community pioneers to analyze global and local waste management strategies.
- Bio-Resource Experience (TPST Undip): Dive into the circular economy by participating in bioconversion technology. You will gain hands-on experience in organic waste treatment, including managing Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae.
- Community Immersion: Observe successful village-level waste ecosystems. Participate in our “Name Your Plant” initiative, where you will plant herbs using locally produced organic compost and leave your personal mark on the local ecosystem.
- Synthesis & Innovation: Group reflections and mentored mini-project development to bridge theory with practical implementation.
