In the face of increasingly complex global challenges, such as climate change, resource scarcity, and social inequality, the School of Sustainability is a strategic initiative of Diponegoro University’s SDGs Center to develop a future generation of leaders committed to sustainable development.

Through collaboration between academics, practitioners, and the community, the School of Sustainability serves not only as a center of learning but also as a platform to encourage concrete action to address societal issues. With its innovative approach, this initiative represents a concrete step for UNDIP to become more beneficial in supporting the achievement of Indonesia’s vision for a greener, more inclusive, and more sustainable future.

The School of Sustainability also plays a strategic role in enhancing Diponegoro University’s reputation in various international sustainability-based rankings, such as the

  1. QS World University Rankings: Sustainability,
  2. Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, dan
  3. UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

In the QS World University Rankings: SUSTAINABILITY, this program supports achievement in the Environmental Impact indicator, which covers energy management, carbon emissions, and resource conservation, as well as Social Impact, which assesses the university’s contribution to inclusive education, societal well-being, and community engagement.

In THE World University Rankings: THE IMPACT RANKINGS, the School of Sustainability strengthens UNDIP’s performance on SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through measurable educational initiatives and global partnerships.

On the other hand, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings measures university performance based on categories such as green infrastructure, energy and waste management, water conservation, sustainable transportation, and sustainability education and research. The School of Sustainability actively supports these indicators by promoting environmentally friendly practices on campus, facilitating sustainability-based research, and developing educational programs focused on green solutions.

Through the implementation of the School of Sustainability, Diponegoro University’s SDGs Center is committed to supporting Diponegoro University in making a real contribution to addressing global challenges. This initiative reflects UNDIP’s dedication to developing a generation capable of integrating theory and practice to create a positive impact on the wider community.

The School of Sustainability is held monthly for 2-5 days, targeting specific groups of participants. It combines theoretical learning models with best practices based on thematic case studies. The target participants are as follows:

  8. Non-Governmental Organizations/NGOs
