Semarang, 23 September 2025 – The International Conference on Chemical and Material Engineering (ICCME) 2025, held in conjunction with the International Symposium on Applied Chemistry (ISAC) 2025, officially began today. Hosted by Diponegoro University (UNDIP) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the two-day event celebrates the 60th anniversary of UNDIP’s Chemical Engineering Department. The conference, supported by the SDGs Center Undip and SIG (PT Semen Indonesia, brings together a global community of researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to discuss the latest advancements in chemical and material engineering.

The opening day took place on the 5th floor of the Prof. Ir. Eko Budihardjo, M.Sc. Building at the Faculty of Engineering. The ceremony was kicked off with a traditional dance performance by UNDIP students, followed by opening remarks from the event’s Master of Ceremonies.

A number of notable figures attended the conference, including:

  • The Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Collaboration, and Public Communication, Dr. Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., representing UNDIP’s Rector.
  • The Acting Head of the Molecular Chemistry Research Center at BRIN, Prof. Roni Maryana, Ph.D.
  • The Head of the SDGs Center at UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Denny Nugroho Sugianto, S.T., M.Si.
  • The Vice Dean of Resources at the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Purnawan Adi Wicaksono, S.T., M.T., representing the Dean.
  • The Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Ir. Aprilina Purbasari, S.T., M.T., IPM.

The event officially began with an opening speech by the Chair of ICCME 2025, Dr. Dessy Ariyanti, followed by a welcoming address from Prof. Roni Maryana, Ph.D. representing BRIN. The opening remarks were concluded by Dr. Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., representing UNDIP’s Rector. The morning session wrapped up with a group photo and a coffee break.

The afternoon session began with presentations from keynote speakers Associate Prof. Dr. Eng. Muhammad Aziz and Dr. Meysam Madadi, moderated by Prof. Dyah Hesti Wardhani, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. Following the main presentations, the conference split into three parallel sessions across three floors to accommodate a wide range of topics. The parallel sessions, held on the 5th, 4th, and 3rd floors, provided a platform for deeper discussion and participant presentations.

Room C on the 5th floor focused on Nanotechnology and Surface Engineering and Biomaterials and Bioprocesses. The session was moderated by Keryanti, with Prof. Madya Dr. Fazlena Hamzah serving as the invited speaker.

On the 4th floor, Room B explored Innovation in Chemical Engineering, Circular Economy, and Environmental Impact. Moderated by Dhyna Analyes Trirahayu, this session featured invited speaker Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Herma Dina Setiabudi.

Finally, Room A on the 3rd floor covered Advanced Materials and Sustainable Technology. The session was moderated by Tubagus Rayyan Fitra Sinuhaji and included invited speaker Prof. Dr. T. Aji Prasetyaningrum, S.T., M.Si.

Following these presentations, participants and presenters delivered their own research findings. The first day of the conference concluded smoothly at 5:00 PM. The event will continue tomorrow with a new series of keynote and invited speaker sessions, as well as more presentations from researchers
